Where In The Bible Will I Find... Teaching About Premillennialism?

Gary Colley

"Premillennialism" is a big word. One friend correctly defined it this way: "pre, means before, millennial, means 1,000 years, and ism, means it isn't so!" He correctly defined that term and its erroneous teaching.

Premillennialism is a false doctrine accepted by many denominational churches today. It is false in that it teaches the Lord will return to the earth and establish a literal earthly kingdom and reign on a literal earthly throne in the city of Jerusalem. After adding more unfounded teachings such as "rapture," "tribulation," a literal Armageddon battle in a valley which is — according to their theory — too small to possibly hold "all the armies of the world," and then Jesus is to begin reigning and set up a kingdom "where all Jews and Gentiles will ultimately be saved." It is hard to understand how so many could allow their superstition to carry them away with this doctrine!

Search as one may, not only are the words "Premillennialism" and "rapture" not found in the Bible, but neither are many other facets of this teaching. Thus, without Scriptural proof, we must conclude that this teaching results from the theories, suppositions, and assertions of men.

Since these teach that the kingdom has not yet come, the doctrine of Premillennialism would have to restructure the entire Bible in order for the doctrine to be true. But we are warned not to attempt that (Gal. 1:8-9; Rev. 22:18-19). Are we ready for the consequences of this false doctrine? If it is true, this theory would make liars out of John the Immerser, Jesus, the 12 apostles and the 70. They all said the kingdom was "at hand," meaning that it was to be established very soon (Matt. 3:1-2; Mk. 1:14-15; Mk. 9:1). Here are 84 witnesses who say Premillennialism is not true! To this number, add the name of Luke who wrote that on the day of Pentecost, when the church or kingdom began, Jesus was then reigning on His throne (Matt. 16:18-19; Acts 2:32-33).

Furthermore, Paul told the Colossians that they had been translated into the kingdom of God's dear Son (Col. 1:13-14). This could not have been true had the kingdom not been established in the first century.
