Where In The Bible Will I Find... The Millennium Marks The End Of Time?
Gary Colley |
Confusion will always be in the minds of those who refuse to "know the truth" by which we can be free (Jn. 8:31-32). Some today are singing the premillennial song, "Jesus Is Coming Soon," setting forth the thought that "the signs are right" for Christ's second coming. We do know that the Lord's first coming was to "seek and save the lost" in the church He purchased (Acts 20:28). He will now accept all into His kingdom who accept His conditions (Lk. 19:10; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts 2:47; Col. 1:13). But we also know that there are no signs concerning His second coming. We do know that the second coming of the Lord will be to bring judgment (Acts 17:30-31; Matt. 25). Speculators and prognosticators like Billy Graham and Hal Lindsey, cultists like "heavens Gate" members and "Branch Davidians" have all spent much time working on the superstitions and ignorance of folks to gain their following. They talk about the "rapture," "the Battle of Armageddon," and the "1,000 year reign of Christ," as though those things are Biblical! All of these things are foreign to Bible teaching, but these speculators and cultists have made millions from the unsuspecting and ignorant masses. Their predictions are based on what they call "unfulfilled prophecies," and their misconceptions of Matthew 24 and Revelation 20, none of which foretell of Jesus' return to the earth (1 Thess. 4:13-18), or His setting up a literal throne in the city of Jerusalem for a literal 1,000 years. Neither does any man know when Jesus' second coming will be, or that "it is imminent" since the Bible says neither the angels, nor the Son knows (Matt. 24:36). There were signs of the coming destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, but absolutely none will be given for the second coming of Christ. It is a Bible fact that Christ will return to receive His own to Himself (Jn. 14:1- 6). At that time, all the dead will be raised (Jn. 5:28-29). All will be judged (Matt. 25:31-45), the world shall be burned up (2 Pet. 3:10), the saved will go with the Lord to heaven, and the lost to everlasting torment (Matt. 25:46). All must prepare now (Tit. 2:11-12). |
