Robert Spencer writes, "A new Newsweek poll on American Attitudes toward Muslims and
Islam has found that 46 percent of Americans believe the U.S. is taking in too many Muslim
immigrants. Thirty-two percent think that Muslims in America are less loyal to the U.S. than
they are to Islam. Twenty-eight percent believe that the Qur'an condones violence, and forty-one
percent hold that Islamic culture 'glorifies suicide.'" He adds that the likely response to
these figures is that we will begin to hear how that America is becoming "Islamophobic." The
idea Moslems have is that, "you have a problem. We don't."
One Muslim asked the president, "What are we — the U.S. — doing with public diplomacy to change the hearts and minds of a billion and a half Muslims around the world?" The unspoken assumption behind this question is that Muslim fury at the West stems entirely from the actions of the U.S. and other Western countries, and not from anything within the Islamic world itself.
The prevailing view seems to be that the Islamic faith of today's terrorists has nothing to do with their actions, and those who suspect otherwise are simply bigots who draw an unwarranted connection between Islam and terrorism. But, some Muslims themselves are making that connection. One poll found that twenty-six percent of Muslims between the ages of 18 and 29 affirmed that there could be justification in some circumstances for suicide bombings, and five percent of all the Muslims surveyed said they had a favorable view of Al-Qaeda.
All the while, the terrorists themselves repeatedly and consistently explain and justify their actions by referring to the teachings of Islam — particularly to the imperative deeply embedded within the Islam tradition, to subjugate all non-Islamic polities under the rule of Islamic Sharia law. This connection is made openly elsewhere in the world. One Muslim professor said, "Muslim jurists agree that the purpose of fighting with the People of the Book (Jews and Christians, WP)...is one of two things: It is either their conversion to Islam or the payment of jizyah." He further explains that, "This leaves no doubt that the primary goal of the Muslim community, in the eyes of its jurists, is to spread the word of Allah through jihad, and the option of poll-tax ('jizyah') is to be exercised only after subjugation of non-Muslims."
As for the idea that Islamic terrorism is driven by Western actions, a former jihadist said that he and his fellow mujahadin used to scoff at this idea. "I remember how we used to laugh in celebration whenever people on TV proclaimed that the sole cause for Islamic acts of terror like 9/11, the Madrid bombings, and 7/7 was Western foreign policy." Well, he may have laughed but some American politicians have swallowed that "hook, line and sinker." He went on to say that, "it isn't enough for Muslims to say that because they feel at home in Britain they can simply ignore those passages of the Qur'an which instruct on the killing of unbelievers..." Catch that? The holy book of Muslims, the Qur'an, teaches that non-Muslims are to either be killed or subjugated! The problem for liberal Muslims is that they are caught "between a rock and a hard place." They may personally be against violence in furthering the Islamic faith, but their own Qur'an teaches it. Shall they reject their own Qur'an? Some have, but most say nothing and remain Muslims but reject Muslim teachings. Not only are these liberal Muslims inconsistent, but they are being intellectually dishonest with themselves!
The teachings of the greatest terrorist of them all — their "prophet" Muhammed — is plain for all to see. In the book he authored (while claiming it came from "Allah") he instructs faithful Muslims to kill non-Muslims. Surah 9:4 of the Qur'an says, "...fight and slay them the pagans wherever ye find them. And seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)." Every individual Muslim must ultimately come to the crossroads and make his decision: Will he blindly follow the wicked ideas of this evil man \ Muhammed, or will he follow his own conscience and reject the Qur'an as a holy book?
Furthermore, the Qur'an teaches that if any Muslim rejects the Islamic faith, he is to be treated as a traitor and is worse than the enemy. Other loyal Muslims are instructed by the Qur'an to, "Seize them and slay them wherever you find them; and [in any case] take no friends or helpers from their ranks" (Surah 4:89).
Now you see why Muslims are afraid to speak out about their "holy book," the Qur'an. If they disagree with it, they had better not say so because their lives are at stake. If they convert to another religion, they are to be killed.
Yet only twenty-eight percent of non-Muslims in the U.S. believe the Qur'an condones violence. Why such a small percentage? Probably because they have never read the Qur'an for themselves. After all, a Muslim will tell you that "Islam" means "peace," and many political leaders in our nation have fallen for that lie. Another reason is that we bend over backwards in our country to appease this false religion, and it has become politically incorrect to speak the truth about the Qur'an, Sharia law, and the twin goals of Islam to either kill all non-Muslims or subjugate them. They intend to rule the world, and the quicker we realize that fact, the better off we will be. This is no time for naivete.
The few Muslims who have left Islam at great risk to their lives are to be admired. Perhaps many more would if they were not intimidated, fearing for their lives. They are in quite a predicament because even here in our nation where freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution, there are a number of pockets of terrorists who are ready to strike "at the drop of a hat." Islam is built on violence, intimidation, and fear. No wonder these "control freaks" fear the West, with its freedoms of religion, speech, and the right to change religions.
