If we are wholly surrendered to our Lord, we can do nothing against the truth. Paul says, "For we
can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth" (2 Cor. 13:8). This simply means that those
Spirit-guided men could not be led by the Spirit and yet take a stand against any truth God has
uttered. They had to stand with the truth or abandon their Lord.
Do you see this? If we have the truth, we have Christ; if we have not the truth, we have not Christ (2 John 9-11). But John says, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:12). And our Lord, Himself, says that those who receive not His word are those who reject Him (John 12:48). So the idea must be that no human soul can do one thing against the truth — any word our Lord has spoken — and still have Christ as his Lord and Saviour. How serious this is! It is a matter of life or death. |
