Truth Is Invulnerable

S. H. Hall

If we are wholly surrendered to our Lord, we can do nothing against the truth. Paul says, "For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth" (2 Cor. 13:8). This simply means that those Spirit-guided men could not be led by the Spirit and yet take a stand against any truth God has uttered. They had to stand with the truth or abandon their Lord.

Do you see this? If we have the truth, we have Christ; if we have not the truth, we have not Christ (2 John 9-11). But John says, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:12). And our Lord, Himself, says that those who receive not His word are those who reject Him (John 12:48).

So the idea must be that no human soul can do one thing against the truth — any word our Lord has spoken — and still have Christ as his Lord and Saviour. How serious this is! It is a matter of life or death.
