The first sermon in the Christian dispensation was preached on the day of Pentecost in the
city of Jerusalem. The multitude came together to know what the excitement was (Acts
2:6). Peter arose and preached the sermon that is recorded in Acts 2.
There were Jews out of every nation under heaven who became interested and inquired what to do to be saved. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Peter said unto them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). They who gladly received the word spoken by Peter were baptized and on that day 3,000 were added to the church. So the answer to their question set forth in Acts 2:37 was, "Repent and be baptized." Can anyone deny that and yet believe the Bible? Does that mean a person is saved without being baptized? Certainly not. |
