Bible Riddle: May 2004
Help me to find that "Sinner's Prayer" way, That leads to salvation, as most say today. I've checked scripture's examples, Now you look with me into... That Spirit inspired record, At what the preacher and the converted DID do. On Pentecost following The Lord's crucifiction, Apostles begain preaching With holy conviction. And many cried out: "Men and brethern, what shall we do?" Right then Peter told them: "Just pray this prayer after me..." But NAY he DID NOT !! And he would NOT say that to YOU! Read the TRUE account and YOU will see. On the road returning home The eunech of Ethopia was met, By Philip who preached to him Jesus... Telling how Jesus could pay his debt! Later, seeing water, the eunech realized: He should be able to be baptized!! But Philip replied, "Only pray this prayer..." What?? NAY he DID NOT !! Such an idea found in the Bible? — WHERE?? Any reference to THAT is fruitlessly sought. All the preachers who were asked WHAT to do, Did NOT say THAT to their questioners, And would NOT say THAT to YOU! On the Damascus road appeared, To Saul of Tarsus: Jesus Christ, Who said to him "Pray this prayer after me..." NAY, Oh NAY he DID NOT !! Read your New Testament and you'll SEE. The Lord sent to Saul, Ananias... Telling Saul what he MUST do! 'Twas "arise and be baptized" For to "WASH away thy sins." He was "calling on the name of the Lord" too! For prayer is the saved-believer's privilege, A sinner's prayer is not heard, Peter said. The blind man, which Jesus healed, thus so stated, These citations in your New Testament should be read. For that way which leads to salvation... Begins with the preacher so sinners may hear. When believing, then convicted, those sinners... Must repent for salvation to be near. As Jesus said they must confess Him before men... And be baptized into Christ, 'tis Him they wear. Then in God's family/the church/yes, the kingdom... May approach God boldly in prayer! Oh OBEY these commandments of Jesus, By the Spirit inspired is the Holy Writ. Giving the TRUE gospel plan of salvation, Not the soft words of men... Their errors to fit — which lead to the Pit! ( Answer Next Month ) Answer to April 2004's Riddle — David's psalm, PSALMS 9:17 ( The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. ) Solomon's proverb, PROVERBS 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. God's promise, 2 CHRONICLES 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Jesus' admonition, MATTHEW 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. |
