Bible Riddle: August 2003
In the days that Judges ruled, Pled a daughter-in-law so: To her Bethlehemjudahite mother, Whither thou goest, I will go. These two widows departed Moab, To mother's Judean parcel of land; Her daughter gleaned the field of a kindred, Their redeemer He became. At the threshingfloor as He slept, She lay down at His feet; Being startled He did find her, And their kinship she did entreat. But one kinsman there was, a'Nearer... For their redemption was he pressed; But the Nearer could not redeem them, Lest his 'heritance be stressed. As his testimony in Israel, The Nearer did pass o'er his shoe, Known by witnesses at the city gate, Now YOU should name who it went to.
