Bible Riddle: March 2002
I was the son of a famous king, But no great fame to my land did I bring. I followed my father to the throne, But much of his power soon was gone. I refused the counsel of wise old men; There were only two that stayed with me then. I bought a shameful peace with an Egyptian band; It cost me the greatest treasures of the land. My 18 wives and 60 concubines to me bore Eighty-eight children. Who fathered more? My name from you I surely can’t hide Though I may not speak it with very great pride.
