Preparing To Die

Preparing To Die
Nathan Brewer reviews a certainty: death. We are all standing in a figurative line, waiting to take our turn of stepping-off into the next world, an eternal place and an eternal state. Sadly, those who will not repent shall remain as they are, to be tormented for all eternity: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."..."He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still." (Revelation 21:8... 22:11). Make your plans now and act upon them, while you can.

Who Shall Prevail?
The question centers upon Christ, death, and Hades. David Ray directs our attention to the sting of sin, which is based upon the certainty of our death... our separation from this fleshly world into that spiritual one. Let not one of us fall with the final enemy: "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death" (1 Corinthians 15:26).

Where And When One Is Saved
J. O. Jones: "To know where one is saved and when one is saved is to know how one is saved. One cannot, therefore, know how to be saved unless it is known where and when he is saved." So we see in this Biblical lesson the multi-faceted aspects of our salvation. Test your understanding against the standard that God has established.

The Remission Of Sins
Dan J. Ottinger examines each of those passages where the subject phrase is found. He gives careful consideration to the difficult passages, noting some of men's erroneous interpretations. Recommended.

Do Not Cast Away Your Confidence
This sermon is a study of the grateful and the grudging heart, prepared by Gary L. Grizzell. Our attitude reflects our faith: "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin" (Hebrews 3:12-13).

That Which Costs Nothing Is Worth Nothing
It has been said that the optimist believes that we live in the best of all possible worlds; the pessimist fears this is true. Christians should know and be optimistic that we are members of the best of all possible families, rather than be pessimistically obsessed over being created unto good works and obedience, sacrificing ourselves. Marvin L. Weir presents the bottom line for those looking to just get by...

The Godly Respect God's Word
Godly living comes from applying the Word and not the imaginations and traditions of men. This is how we display the fact of our attitude toward scripture. To the wise, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalms 119:105). For we know "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Jerry C. Brewer provides a review of the astounding inspiration God has placed there.

Jesus Christ Built Only His Church
A study of sequencing from E. M. Borden. Do we join Christ's church? If so, how; if not then how do we get into His church? A minute well spent, with meditations sure to follow...

Society's Crumbling Foundation

God Has A Plan For Your Home

The Home As God Intended It To Be

As Goes The Home, So Goes Society
God's First Institution
Jerry C. Brewer: " God has three institutions which are all designed for the good of man." From the pages of the first book of the Bible, to the New Testament commands on this topic, the family is the foundation for our necessary provision. This is the model of the third institution, which too is a family, soon to be perfected and glorified for all eternity. This short look at recent cultural trends brings a note of concern for a common source of the woes we all suffer from today. May God be uplifted in our homes and our marriages!

The Foolishness Of Adventism
C. A. Norred takes a protracted look at Adventism, from its beginnings in the early 19th century, to the false date given for the second coming of Christ, their course correction following that public error, and their practices up to today. Read more to learn how denominations have incorporated parts of this system of belief. Men are so drawn to the speculative and imaginative of the unknown, rather than to the daily toil of faithful service to others with a humble mind.
