A Member Of The Certified Church

The Characteristics of the Gospel
A Member Of The Certified Church: P. D. Wilmeth traces those characteristics of the Gospel to the "Certified" Church. Yes, but certified by whom? The apostle Paul admonished "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ (Galatians 1:6-7). Friends, let's study the Bible together.

Why the Church is Important
The privileges belong to the members of the household. Gayle Oler explains why we must not expect to receive the family's privileges and blessings if we are not members of that family...

We Should be Willing to Change
F. B. Srygley reminds us that repentance is a change of mind: "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3). The basis of change: A short moment of meditation.

"Handling Aright The Word Of Truth"
Marvin L. Weir delivers a powerful sermon on this primary topic, a study rife with scriptural reference! Handle with care, student and disciple. The attitude of God is expressed in His Word. Jesus has become "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" (Hebrews 5:9). Allow plenty of time to glean the full spiritual nourishment that Brother Weir brings to us. Does God Authorize Women Preachers?
Jess Whitlock: "When one reflects upon the subject of apostasy among the Lord's people, hasn't it always been accomplished in a gradual manner, slowly, a little bit at a time? Whenever a new false doctrine has been admitted into a congregation hasn't it been introduced little by little?" So begins this Biblical study, following a recitation of examples of recent decades' apostasy practiced in formerly faithful bodies of the Lord's church. The subject aberration deviates from God's plan, established at the time of His Creation.

The Role of Women in God's Chain of Authority
Marvin L. Weir continues our study of the role of women in the church with a comprehensive study spanning both the old and new covenant records. "Divine authority versus human authority has been a problem for man since the beginning of time. If unity in religion is ever to exist, the question of supreme or final authority in religious matters must be addressed." Both rigorous and vigorous, this lesson.

May A Woman Translate A Public Sermon?
"The various articles in this month's [paper (ed.)] publication are all aimed at discussing the role of women within a local church setting. Of paramount interest then is how she may qualify for various leadership roles, and what she has authority from God to do. This present article wants to answer the question that is our title: 'May A Woman Translate A Public Sermon For A Gospel Preacher To An Audience That Has Men Present?' There are two answers to this question: a short and a long answer." Robin W. Haley brings to this question the scriptures which are germane, pertaining significantly to the matter at hand.

God's Standard Of Authority

The Crucial Issue Of Authority

Authority Must Be Respected

Denominations Ignore God's Authority
Sound Doctrine For Sisters
"Sisters Need Sound Doctrine Rather Than A Spiritually Unhealthy Life" is the first of three lessons from Paul are presented by Brother Roelf L. Ruffner. Also contained herein are "Sisters Need To Be Holy Women" and "Sisters Need To Be Women Who Reflect The Word Of God." Expounding from Titus 3:5, Paul's purpose behind these instructions is "that the word of God be not blasphemed."

"By What Authority Doest Thou These Things"
Josh Haley: "Many today believe they have the authority to do whatever they want as long as they do so 'in God's name'. However, the Bible tells us something altogether different about authority. Jesus stated, 'All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth' (Matthew 28:18 ASV). Authority belongs to Jesus. He alone has the authority to permit or refuse any action."
