Christianity Is The Religion Of Reason

Christianity Is The Religion Of Reason
You will not read that the truth is better felt than told. Neither will you read where anyone was asked to 'give a sense' of the Lord's teaching. Modern buzz words evade the light of truth, which the Word shines upon all error, exposing the thoughts and intents of every heart (Heb. 4:12). Jerry C. Brewer shows that God has appealed to the logic of man with reason, in presenting His way of life unto salvation (Isaiah 1:18).

"The Man Who Gave Us Christmas"
D. Ellis Walker tells the story of the woman who wrote about 'the man who gave us Christmas.' Notwithstanding the history of the holiday, festival, or observance, the supposed Biblical basis is shown to be wanting of any commandment. While we are pleased any time the world thinks upon Christ, our Savior, and our denominational friends remark that Christ is the 'reason for the season,' they will not practice the weekly observance of his death, which is commanded. Thoughts On Billy Graham's Retirement
What has Billy Graham left as his legacy, his track record, and his fruits? Leland Reed tests Graham's preaching on what one must do to be saved with the scriptural litmus and finds that the true Word contradicts this teaching. How very sad for those who believed him!

You Don't Have To Go To Heaven
The Lord will grant the wishes of your heart by giving you your choice in eternity. If your constant concerns are for yourself, you will spend eterenity with the object of your love. Jesus did not try to make even the disciples return who left his presence (John 6:66-67). Nathan Brewer asks you the questions that you need to answer!

A King Who Remembered God
C. E. W. Dorris traces the influences upon King Hezekiah from his youth, and observes that "one never knows his own weakness or strength until the temptation is ended." The sacred record, for our own instruction (Rom. 15:4), prompts the author to summarize the lessons we are to learn in five practical applications.

Characteristics Of A Liberal
Gary L. Grizzell includes in his comprehensive analysis of the topic, a 12-point checklist of the modern liberal's characteristics. Rich in scriptural references, brother Grizzell first tracks the multiplied meanings of the term 'liberal' over past times. You can have assurance of safety if you rest your conclusions on doctrinal truth: the Word and Christ's church ("thy Word is truth," John 17:17b & "the church... the pillar and ground of the truth," 1Tim. 3:14-15)

The Unvarnished Truth
The good, the bad, and the ugly are all revealed in God's Word. The unvarnished truth is provided for God's friends and foes alike. L. R. Wilson briefs us on two examples of men ("for all have sinned," Rom. 3:23) who were justified by their living faith coupled with their works (James 2:20-22; see also James 2:14-26 & Heb. 11).

Brother Tom Wacaster is struck by the timeliness of the subject treatise by the late Foy Wallace in this review. He lays today's cyclical wave of emotionalism alongside that of an earlier time.

Bold Preaching — An Urgent Need
Foursquare teaching in four short paragraphs. Awake! brethern!! Cled E. Wallace sounds this warning against soft preaching for the masses, that the power in and of the Word — the seed — directly preached, will attract the honest heart and repel the chaff.

What Does It Mean To Fear God?
H. Leo Boles on the beginning of wisdom. Jesus admonished "...fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matt. 10:28b; Psalm 111:10 & Prov. 9:10).
