"Itching Ears" and Their Ticklers

"Itching Ears" and Their Ticklers
J. H. Childress: "It doesn't require unusual powers of observation to note such a condition in the world today. Not only are there multiplied millions whose ears constantly itch, but there are always teachers who are perfectly willing to scratch them!"

The Truth, Or "Political Correctness?"
Royce Williamson follows the conversion chronology of Billy Graham to his current state of persuasion, laying down the Biblical standard along side some of Mr. Graham's recent observations. "What does the Bible teach?" we ask...

The Legacy of Terry Schiavo
America Awake!! This tragedy punctuates the erosion of the sanctity of life in our citizens and in our public officials. Bob Spurlin applies the Word of God to America's accelerating decline. Consider that "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God" (PSALMS 9:17).

The Uniquess Of Jesus: His Life
Ron Cosby provides examples which demonstrate that Jesus Christ is the greatest person who ever lived. His moral character, His teachings, and His influence on history are unparalleled.

False Ideas About God
Eight false ideas are appraised by Roelf L. Ruffner, from 'God is Nature' to 'God will save the morally good person.' Although broad in scope, these ideas expire in the blinding light of scripture. "But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light" (EPHESIANS 5:13).

Baptism and Israel's Deliverance

Singing Redemption's Song
Brother Tillit S. Teddlie's 1923 hymn has been sung many thousands of times in worship unto the Lord God Almighty. Rick Popejoy takes this beloved sermon-song to the Bible student with a catalog of the scriptures which are the foundation of its teaching.

"Oh, For A Candidly-Honest Baptist Preacher"
Jerry C. Brewer laments not finding a candid preacher of the 'once saved, always saved' doctrine, a preacher who won't eschew the unmistakable implication it incorporates. This example is addressed to the Baptist subset of Calvinism, and here he addresses only the 'perseverence of salvation' in its original, fundamental essence. [NOTE — This first-order simplification deals not with the counter-feint of Calvinists who have qualified subsequent unChrist-like behaviors of some who once 'made a decision for Christ' by claiming they were 'never saved in the first place.']

The Blood Of Christ Cleanseth Us
On Why I Am A Baptist
This rebuttal to Otis L. Spurgeon's "Why I Am A Baptist" article in the Baptist Standard is from the pen of Cled E. Wallace. Scripture and logic resolve the liberties and inconsistencies proffered by Spurgeon. "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:" (ISAIAH 1:18).

Believing A Lie ( reprise )
"The love of truth" is a highly significant expression. One will never be disposed to accept truth until he possesses a love for the truth. Thoughtful analysis from Homer Putnam Reeves...
