The Bible's Author Is God

The Bible's Author Is God
EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the first of a series of articles on the Authorship of the Bible. This material was presented at the 7th Annual Western Oklahoma Summer Lectures by Tommy J. Hicks, and conducted by the Northeast church of Christ in Elk City, Oklahoma in June of 2004.

Water In God's Plan Of Salvation
On the title subject, Roelf L. Ruffner notes that 'Others have objected, claiming that baptism for remission of sins is "water salvation" and not "salvation by faith."' Here he begins to circumscribe the Biblical steps that constitute salvation: 'But the salvation God offers is not by "faith-only" or "grace-only" or even "baptism-only..."'

The Name 'Christian'
This fine preacher, song writer, and song leader expounds upon that name God has assigned to His saved ones. In so doing, L. O. Sanderson takes us to a higher level of understanding as he demonstrates from the Word '...the fact that God has three positive methods by which He teaches and urges respect of, and obedience to, His will...'

The Uniquess Of Jesus: His Teaching
While the renowned teachers behind the world's religions point out their way to approach God, only in Christianity does God approach man. Ron Cosby cites eight examples from scripture to contrast the magnificence of Jesus Christ's teaching vs. the emptiness of mortals' futile efforts.

They Delivered Him Up
Cled E. Wallace delivers a cogent study on the multiple motives behind the accusations against, the arrest, and the trial of Jesus. The modern fallacy that God delayed the kingdom because of the Jews' failure to accept Jesus, and the age-old misunderstanding that God would usher in a materialistic, earthly kingdom is refuted with one scriptural citation. This broad elucidation will enlighten many.
